Rangers fans react as Lee Wallace scores FA Cup screamer for QPR on Saturday

Lee Wallace scored a sensational right-footed volley for QPR on Saturday afternoon as the English Championship side easily dispatched a much-changed Swansea City side 5-1 at Loftus Road – and Glasgow Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter.

Wallace, 32, left Rangers in the summer to join QPR after captaining the Gers and clocking up 262 appearances for the Ibrox club. The latter stages of his time at Rangers were overshadowed by a suspension after a defeat to Old Firm rivals Celtic.

The Scot has since joined QPR, where he is joined by former Rangers goalkeeper Liam Kelly and ex-Light Blues manager Mark Warburton. On Saturday, he was handed just his seventh appearance for the second-tier English side.

But it is two in two for Wallace and he is now expected to keep his place on the left side of the defence. That is because the ex-Hearts defender helped QPR beat Cardiff City 6-1 in the league on New Year’s Day, before scoring on Saturday (below).

Rangers fan George Byers got a consolation for Swansea City, but it was QPR and Warburton that earned all the spoils. In the Championship, QPR are sitting comfortably above the relegation zone in 15th place – 12 above the drop zone.

Borna Barisic is shining in Wallace’s left-back slot but many Rangers fans reacted to seeing Wallace’s goal by claiming they miss the experienced defender – while one supporter even claimed he would take Wallace back “in a heartbeat”.
