Sheffield United midfielder John Fleck has admitted he would “love” to return to Rangers at some point during his career, eight years after leaving Ibrox to join Coventry City – and Rangers fans have responded on Twitter.
Fleck, 28, has been starring in the Premier League this season. A key member of the Sheffield United side that are currently in contention for European qualification, Fleck has netted five goals in 25 Premier League outings from midfield.
The Scotland international came through the ranks at Rangers before making his debut at just 16 years of age in 2008, clocking up 55 senior outings for the Ibrox club. He left in 2012, after the financial collapse of Rangers.
Speaking to Kris Boyd on Sky Sports, former Coventry and Blackpool midfielder Fleck was asked if he would ever consider a return to Rangers and Fleck stated that although he is happy at Bramall Lane – he would “love” a return.

“I’m very happy at Sheffield United,” Fleck said, when asked about a return to Rangers. “As long as that continues, then great. But if the chance came along, down the line, then I would love it – to be honest.
“I wouldn’t say I have unfinished business because I was a very small part of a successful team, back then.”
Fleck’s performances have not gone unnoticed. Indeed, The Record claimed Arsenal were keeping tabs on Fleck in the January transfer window, while The Sheffield Star stated that Fleck is worth a whopping £20million fee.
Rangers supporters reacted on Twitter to the news that Fleck would be tempted with a return to Rangers at some stage in his career, potentially in the next few years – and many would love him back in a light blue shirt.
