Jermain Defoe hit a hat-trick as Rangers thumped 10-man Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. It was the perfect hat-trick for the veteran striker who scored with his left foot, right foot and with a header.

Defoe was in top form right from the start at Ibrox on Sunday afternoon. The English striker put the Gers 2-0 up within 15 minutes with an early brace to stun the visitors.

But Daryl Horgan’s goal before half-time made things nervous for Rangers. This was eased when Sean Mackie was sent off for Hibs and Defoe added a 74th-minute header to make it 3-1.

Rangers finished with a late flurry; Alfredo Morelos bagged a brace and Sheyi Ojo got on the scoresheet to put some gloss on the scoreline. It was an entertaining afternoon in Glasgow with Defoe grabbing three and Rangers cruising to a 6-1 win.

Despite his age, the 36-year-old is still in top form. With his lethal finishing and crafty movement, Defoe has now scored five goals in five games this season. His total tally stands at 12 goals in 25 matches for Rangers.
