Jason Holt is set to return to Rangers from his loan spell at Joey Barton’s Fleetwood Town after the midfielder suffered a nasty knee injury – but Rangers fans do not think he will stay for long.
Holt, 26, was substituted in the 14th minute of Fleetwood’s 1-0 win over Accrington Stanley. He was stretchered off with the knee problem, and it has forced him to cancel his loan at Fleetwood.
The former Hearts midfielder is set to continue his recovery at Rangers. He has a contract with Steven Gerrard’s side until the summer of 2020, though he is well down the pecking order.

Gerrard made him surplus to requirements last summer and Barton opted to take Holt on a season-long loan at Fleetwood. He has been integral to The Trawlermen’s campaign, making 36 appearances in all competitions.
But Gerrard has since brought in Glen Kamara, Steven Davis, Scott Arfield and Lassana Coulibaly. Ryan Jack, Ross McCrorie and more remain above Holt in the pecking order.
With the summer fast approaching, Rangers fans believe Holt is simply not good enough for Gerrard’s side despite clocking up 119 appearances for the Teddy Bears. Many believe Holt will be sold by the Gers in the summer window.
