Rangers have been linked with a move for Aberdeen forward Greg Stewart ahead of the summer transfer window – and Gers fans are desperate to see the versatile attacker move to Ibrox.

The Daily Record claim the 29-year-old is a target for Rangers, with the attacker expected to leave parent club Birmingham City at the end of the season. His contract expires with the Blues on June 30.

Stewart spent the first half of the season on loan at Kilmarnock, where he shone under Stevie Clarke. He scored eight goals and created seven more in assists – in just 16 appearances.

He was recalled by Birmingham City before being sent on loan to Aberdeen – his former club – for the second half of the season. But the uncapped Scottish star has been played out wide by Derek McInnes’ side.

Rangers have plenty of options up front, but Alfredo Morelos showed against Celtic on Sunday that Steven Gerrard needs top-quality cover, because the Colombian has not learnt to keep his cool.

The former HJK Helsinki striker is set to face a lengthy ban once again. Jermain Defoe and Kyle Lafferty act as cover, but they have done little since joining. Rangers fans reacted to the news their club are after Stewart, and are certainly hopeful their club can complete a deal.
