It seems four senior Rangers players are on their way out of the club after being left at home for the club’s pre-season training trip to Portugal, as reported by the Scottish Sun.
Eros Grezda, Kyle Lafferty, Jason Holt and Graham Dorrans have all been told to find a new club. The news on Grezda and Lafferty is no surprise. Neither looked up to it at Rangers under Steven Gerrard and will not be missed by fans. Holt, according to the report, could reunite with Mark Warburton at QPR. So he seesm to be in a good place.
For Dorrans however, Rangers fans are certainly disappointed for the player.
Rangers spent a reported (Sky Sports) £1.3 million to sign Dorrans in the summer of 2017.
It was an exciting move at the time for the Scotland international with bags of Premier League experience. A boyhood Rangers fan, Dorrans was over the moon at the move.
Things started with a bang. Dorrans scored twice on his debut and went on to score five goals and assist a further two in his opening 10 league games for Rangers. He looked like being a potential Ibrox star.
However, injuries have been a major issue for the 32-year-old. An ankle injury impacted his first season at the club. Last season, he played just three times after a serious knee problem.
Rangers and Steven Gerrard need to clear some of the deadwood and right now it seems Dorrans fits into that category.
Fans on Twitter certainly have mixed views. Some Rangers supporters feel he is worth another go this season. Others believe the time is right for him to leave Ibrox and for Gerrard to have his wages off the books.
But it is clear he will leave with the best wishes of all the Rangers support, who will undoubtedly wish Dorrans could have stayed fit at Ibrox…
Would absolutely love to see Graham Dorrans succeed in a Rangers shirt. Clearly he is living his dream & been dealt a really difficult hand with injuries. IMO he deserves the chance to get some games under his belt at Ibrox & really test himself again.

Oh well it looks like I was wrong about Dorrans making an impact this season if he was free from injuries, the sun saying hes to find a new club and didn’t fly to Portugal. Right player at wrong time maybe, after his double at fir park I thought he was going to smash it for us.

No doubt he would have made a positive impact if he was able to keep injury free!

Old and done

If dorrans can stay fit he plays a part. The fact he had a bad injury though as @YoungyJ83 says, it’s probably worse than originally feared. Shades of Kevin Thomson
As good as they are/were. We can’t afford to accommodate passengers. With the best will in the world

Just a pity, as you say right player wrong time, nobody will be more devastated than him 😓

I think dorrans of he stays fit would be worth hanging onto..he has the skill to open up defences and we get a lot of teams sitting back and need that

Shame, I’d still like Dorrans to be given a chance to prove what he can do

Not surprising Ange! Dorrans is injury prone & the wrong side of 30. Lafferty was a huge mistake & I don’t think he was Gerrard’s choice anyway!

I think Dorrans is done. Unfortunate but let’s be face it he’s sorted for life .
