Rangers fans react as Glenn Middleton reportedly set to leave on loan

Glenn Middleton is reportedly set to leave Rangers this summer and join English League One side Doncaster Rovers on loan until the end of the season – and Gers fans have backed the move.

The 19-year-old broke into the Rangers side at the start of the season and his dazzling footwork, twinned with his blistering speed immediately caught the eye of the Ibrox following.

He even found the back of the net five times and laid on five assists, his highlights being a goal in the Europa League against Spartak Moscow and a brace against Ayr United.

However, towards the end of the season, Middleton struggled to earn his place back in Steven Gerrard’s side. Now the Gers have signed Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie, he has been pushed down the pecking order.

The Daily Record has claimed that Middleton is to replace Mallik Wilks at Doncaster on the left flank. Wilks is returning to Leeds United after his loan spell expired, where he scored 14 goals from the wing.

Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter to the news that Middleton is leaving the club, and many believe it is a solid transfer for the Scotland youth international – with supporters hoping he can return a better player.
