Rangers earned a narrow win over Hibernian at Easter Road on Wednesday night to maintain their enormous lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership – and Gers supporters have heaped praise on the performance of Filip Helander.
Rangers came into the match sitting an enormous 23 points ahead of Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the table – though Neil Lennon’s side boast three games in hand. The Hoops earned a 2-0 win over Hamilton at Parkhead.
The Gers themselves also nabbed three points but they were forced to rely on their defence at times. Alfredo Morelos proved the difference, latching on to a neat flick from Joe Aribo to finish with a neat left-footed effort.
Helander, 27, earned his 18th appearance for the Gers this season alongside Connor Goldson – as Steven Gerrard continues to chop and change between the 13-time Sweden international and Nigeria international Leon Balogun.
Helander, who joined for £5.3million – as per the Scotsman – in the summer of 2019, was solid in the middle of the defence. Despite a tricky start at Ibrox last season, Helander is beginning to show why he was bought by Gerrard.
Rangers fans reacted on Twitter to Helander’s performance – and many were impressed with the defender.
