Rangers fans react as club reportedly interested striking loan signing from Premier League outfit
Rangers are reportedly one of a number of clubs that have expressed their interest in signing Chelsea midfielder BIlly Gilmour on loan this summer. The Chelsea ace earned rave reviews for his performance as Scotland drew with England. Now, Rangers want Gilmour and fans have backed a move.
Gilmour, 20, watched Scotland from the sidelines after testing positive – as his country were knocked out of Euro 2020 by Croatia. It comes just days after Gilmour had given Scotland a chance, starring in midfield against England. Now, his summer could take another big turn.
That is because The Record claim Steven Gerrard is one of a number of managers to express his interest to Chelsea in signing Gilmour on loan. His form is said to have attracted numerous clubs. But Rangers are in Gilmour’s heart. They, of course, sold Gilmour to Chelsea in 2017 for £500,000.
What are Rangers fans saying about Gilmour?
Clearly, a move to sign Gilmour would be an enormous coup for Rangers. The chances that the Scottish club could convince Chelsea to send him up the road are small – despite Champions League qualification. Chelsea would surely prefer to see Gilmour play Premier League football every week.
Newcastle and Norwich are also said to be in for Gilmour and a move to either side might be favoured by Chelsea. But Gilmour could be given the option to choose, and the chance to play for Rangers would surely be tempting. Rangers fans are sceptical, but would love him back at Ibrox.
