Rangers have posted a throwback on Twitter that sees Vladimir Weiss strike a stunning effort from around 25 yards during a 4-0 win over Hamilton back in January 2011 – and Gers supporters have reacted to the post.
Weiss, 30, is currently on the books at Slovan Bratislava after joining the club in the January window – though the 66-time Slovakia international is yet to feature for his new side due to a hernia injury.
But he is still very much in the middle of his career and is showing very good form, netting 25 goals in 60 games for Qatari Stars League side Al-Gharafa before his move back to his home country. Back in 2010-11, he was just getting started at Ibrox.
Loaned from Man City in the summer of 2010, Weiss clocked up 35 league and cup appearances for Rangers throughout that campaign in what was the Gers last Scottish Premiership triumph. He scored five and created 15, and here is the throwback.
Weiss has since gone on to play in Italy, Spain, England, Greece and then the middle east for the likes of Pescara, Espanyol, Bolton and City and then Olympiakos. He has a contract at current side Bratislava until the summer of 2021.
Many Rangers fans responded to the post, with some urging their former star to return to Ibrox – nine years after his season-long loan spell ended.
