Rangers are reportedly interested in raiding Hearts for impressive centre-back John Souttar this summer after another impressive season at Tynecastle – and Rangers fans are desperate for a deal to be completed.
The Express claim that Rangers director of football Mark Allen wants Souttar, with Gareth McAuley’s contract set to expire and Joe Worrall expected to return to Nottingham Forest when his loan expires.
It leaves Rangers with just Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic as options at centre-back. Steven Gerrard is likely to want to bring in a new central defender at the end of the season and it seems as though Souttar has been targeted.
The three-time Scotland international has impressed once again for Craig Levein’s side this season. He has only managed to play 30 times, but helped Hearts keep 12 clean sheets in those matches.

Of those outings, Hearts have recorded a huge 19 wins. But a hip injury earlier in the season saw Souttar miss 15 matches – of which Hearts only won six times.
That eye-catching stat is proof that Souttar is hugely influential, and pivotal to Hearts. So it is perhaps no surprise that Rangers want to land the defender, with a seven-figure offer required to land the ex-Dundee United man.
Rangers fans reacted to the news that their club want to raid Hearts again, after bringing Kyle Lafferty to Ibrox earlier this season. Many are desperate to see Souttar pulling on a Light Blue shirt next season.
