Rangers cruised past Motherwell with a 4-0 win at Ibrox on Wednesday evening as the Scottish Premiership season draws closer – and Gers fans have applauded the performance of Borna Barisic on Twitter.
The Gers fielded a strong side that included new signings Jon McLaughlin and Ianis Hagi – while Calvin Bassey was on the bench after playing earlier in the day during a B-team game against Dundee United.
Ryan Kent gave the Gers the lead after just seven minutes, slamming a half-volley past Motherwell goalkeeper Trevor Carson. Just three minutes later, Hagi had made it two with a well-placed header from a Barisic cross.
Midfielder Joe Aribo made it three just before half-time, after an excellent passing move. Numerous changes were made in the second half, and one of those substitutes Brandon Barker continued his excellent pre-season.
His burst of pace forced an own goal from Ricki Lamie. Barisic lasted an hour, before being replaced and the £2million signing was one of the standout performers once again on the left flank.
Many Rangers supporters took to Twitter to heap praise on the left-footed set-piece specialist as he got back to doing what he does best, swinging crosses into the box and creating goals – during the 4-0 win.
