Alfredo Morelos has admitted that he is open to leaving Rangers in the January transfer window if a club from a bigger league comes calling – and Rangers fans are seemingly willing to wave goodbye if a decent offer comes in.
Morelos, 23, has started the 2019-20 campaign in absolutely stunning form for Rangers. The Colombia international has netted 18 times in just 23 league and cup outings – including one in the Europa League against Porto.
Not only has he proved lethal in front of goal, but Morelos has also turned provider on five occasions and stamped out the lack of discipline that frustrated so many Rangers fans last season. He saw red five times, including once against Celtic.
Speaking to Colombian outlet Blu Radio, Morelos confirmed that he is keeping his options open ahead of the January window and if a club is interesting in buying him from a “more competitive league”, then he will go.

“So far there is nothing official. There is a lot of speculation of teams that put messages, but there is nothing, but if there is something concrete then I will let you know. I want to make way for a bigger, more competitive league,” Morelos said.
Morelos has recently signed a new contract at Rangers that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2023. But the deal was seemingly more about Rangers protecting their assets – rather than looking to keep Morelos.
It remains to be seen what price Rangers will look to sell Morelos for, if he does end up leaving in January – but Rangers fans have reacted on Twitter to discuss his comments, with many seemingly willing to let him go.
