Rangers fans rave about one player’s performance despite draw against Motherwell
Rangers suffered a slight hiccup in their pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title after failing to beat Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon – but Gers fans were delighted with the performance of Steven Davis.
Davis, 36, clocked up his 300th appearance for Rangers in what is his second spell at the club – the 89th since returning to Ibrox from Southampton initially on loan in January 2019. He continues to prove age is just a number.
In what was his 28th outing of the 2020-21 season, Rangers had the chance to stretch their lead even further this weekend at the top of the table – after Neil Lennon’s struggling Celtic failed to beat Livingston at Parkhead.

However, Motherwell attacker Devante Cole had seemingly failed to read the script. The son of ex-Manchester United and Newcastle United striker Andy Cole put Motherwell ahead in the first half.
Rangers dominated but struggled to make the telling breakthrough until Borna Barisic produced a stunning cross for substitute Cedric Itten to head into the back of the net. The match ended in a draw, but the lead remains 21 points.
Rangers fans reacted to the Β£18,000-a-week (Salary Sport) veteran’s performance and many were impressed with the Northern Ireland skipper once again this season – in what was his ninth consecutive league start.
Steven Davis is a solid 8/10 week in, week out this season.
Sprayed passes all over the gaff today, and we should have done more with them.
Honestly think a mid week game keeps us more sharper and match fit, as crazy as that might sound.
Onwards and upwards! π¬π§— Ali (@Ali73034713) January 17, 2021

How good has Steven Davis been dread to think what our midfield woulda been like with Jack and Arfield out had he not been there.

As hard as it is to give credit after dropping points.. Steven Davis deserves some plaudits.
The only midfielder today who made it possible for us to have opportunities with his over the top passes.
Canβt even count how many times he sent Tavernier into acres of space.

Rangers still sleeping first 20 mins. Unbeaten record still intact is one of few positives to take. Steven Davis brilliant again. What a career, what a player ππ» one game at a time βοΈβ
