Rangers suffered a slight hiccup in their pursuit of the Scottish Premiership title after failing to beat Motherwell at Fir Park on Sunday afternoon – but Gers fans were delighted with the performance of Steven Davis.
Davis, 36, clocked up his 300th appearance for Rangers in what is his second spell at the club – the 89th since returning to Ibrox from Southampton initially on loan in January 2019. He continues to prove age is just a number.
In what was his 28th outing of the 2020-21 season, Rangers had the chance to stretch their lead even further this weekend at the top of the table – after Neil Lennon’s struggling Celtic failed to beat Livingston at Parkhead.

However, Motherwell attacker Devante Cole had seemingly failed to read the script. The son of ex-Manchester United and Newcastle United striker Andy Cole put Motherwell ahead in the first half.
Rangers dominated but struggled to make the telling breakthrough until Borna Barisic produced a stunning cross for substitute Cedric Itten to head into the back of the net. The match ended in a draw, but the lead remains 21 points.
Rangers fans reacted to the £18,000-a-week (Salary Sport) veteran’s performance and many were impressed with the Northern Ireland skipper once again this season – in what was his ninth consecutive league start.
