Romania secured a 3-2 victory over North Macedonia last night to kick-off their World Cup qualifying campaign with a victory. Rangers star Ianis Hagi was the man of the moment for the hosts, netting the winner five minutes from time.

Mirel Radoi’s men had looked to have blown their two-goal advantage, with both Macedonia coming in the 82nd and 83rd minute of the contest.

With Hagi in the ranks, there is always a strong chance of a magic moment, however, and the 22-year-old came up trumps for his country.

The versatile forward has scored seven goals and claimed 12 assists for the Gers this season, with Steven Gerrard’s men yet to taste defeat in the Scottish Premiership.

He has helped the club win their first title for 10 years at a canter and he’s clearly taken his strong form to the international stage.

His strike against North Macedonia was his first goal for his country and he will now hope to score more goals for Romania.

Rangers fans were happy with his contribution last night and after the game, they took to Twitter to rave about his performance.

Here is what the Teddy Bears faithful had to say about the £20,000-a-week star.
