Rangers fans question something van Bronckhorst did on Wednesday night
Gio van Bronckhorst chose to leave Fashion Sakala on the bench on Wednesday as Rangers beat Hibernian – and fans cannot understand why.
Rangers secured a third win in three games under van Bronckhorst on Wednesday evening. It comes after wins over Sparta Prague and Livingston.
But van Bronckhorst was made to wait. Rangers only got the all-important goal on 87 minutes, as Kemar Roofe came off the bench to score a penalty.
Van Bronckhorst chose to ignore and overlook Fashion Sakala, despite the Zambia international scoring against Livingston on Sunday afternoon.
The attacker got above the goalkeeper with a superb leap to head home a corner. But he remained on the bench for the trip to Easter Road.
With Rangers in need of a goal, van Bronckhorst brought on Roofe, John Lundstram and Scott Arfield. It saw Sakala remain an unused substitute.
What do Rangers fans think of van Bronckhorst leaving Sakala on the bench?
The Gers started Alfredo Morelos, with Ianis Hagi and Ryan Kent either side and Joe Aribo in the 10 role. Eventually, it worked, but only just.
Celtic play host to Hearts on Thursday evening and while they can reduce the gap to four points – that gap currently remains at a huge seven points.
Rangers fans were getting restless – they knew it was a big chance to stretch the gap and many could not understand leaving Sakala on the bench.
