Rangers fans praise ‘superb’ Borna Barisic after Rapid Vienna loss
Borna Barisic completed 90 minutes in the narrow 1-0 defeat to Rapid Vienna on Thursday – and some of the Rangers fans on Twitter hailed him for the quality of his performance.
Steven Gerrard’s side ended up exiting the Europa League at the group stages, as they were unable to get the three points that would have seen them qualify for the knockout rounds.
The Light Blues fell short in front of goal against Austrian outfit Rapid Vienna, who netted a winner through Dejan Ljubicic in the 84th minute to break Gers hearts.
There was one small positive to come out of the contest for a selection of Rangers supporters on social media, as defender Barisic returned to the starting XI following his long injury layout.

Barisic is the club’s first-choice left-back and proved why he’s a more natural fit than Jon Flanagan or Andy Halliday in the position.
The 26-year-old was solid for the majority of the game defensively and tried to join in with the attacks, but there is still work to do be done with young winger Glenn Middleton to strike up a better understanding
Here are some of the Rangers fan tweets on Barisic after his European display despite the loss:
Only positive thing about tonight is Barisic back playing 90minutes

A promising first 40 mins for Rangers so far. Been poor in the middle of the park though. Barisic and Middleton doing well on the left.

Barisic offers so much more than flanagan at left back

Don’t blame Gerrard for walking up the tunnel without his players. They let him down tonight. 2 attempts all night? Only player who turned up tonight is Barisic who was superb. The rest couldn’t even pass the ball 5 yards to each other under no pressure. Not good enough

Was hoping sharpness going forward might catch light against different opposition – as in Spartak – but no such luck. Barisic looking closer to good form one of few positives.

Jack n barisic were the only 2 that showed up
