Rangers fans praise Ryan Jack despite letting lead slip away against Aberdeen

The Gers threw away a two-goal lead but Jack’s post-match comments impressed some fans.

Rangers threw away a two-goal lead and lost ground on Celtic in the title race with a 2-2 draw at Aberdeen last night.

Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack put the Gers into a commanding lead, which was gone by the 48th minute as Steven Gerrard’s side lost two points.

Speaking to Rangers’ official Twitter account post-match, goalscorer Jack said: “When you go 2-0 up, there should only be one outcome. The first 30-40 minutes were absolutely outstanding, we played the game in the right manner, the way we want to look as a team.

“From half time onwards, we lost that, got a bit nervy and edgy. The two goals are criminal at any level, let alone the level we’re playing at.”

Those honest comments, as well as the first half goal, earned Jack praise from many supporters on Twitter, some of whom called for him to be the club’s next captain.

They will lead his leadership, even without the armband, to recover from this ahead of the Betfred Cup final on Sunday, where they face Celtic.

Letting a clear lead slip and losing ground in the title race is a poor way to prepare for a showpiece occasion which could have repercussions all season long, but Jack will be a key part of getting back on track.
