Rangers fans praise James Tavernier after the win over Midtjylland

Rangers completed a vital away win of FC Midtjylland on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter picked out captain James Tavernier for his impressive performance.

Steven Gerrard’s team took control of their Europa League third round qualifier by winning the first leg 4-2 away from home.

The Scottish champions are in pole position to qualify ahead of the second leg at Ibrox and it was down to another eye-catching attacking display.

Danish side Midtjylland did score two goals during a five-minute spell in the second-half, but either side of that Rangers looked impressive going forward.

Alfredo Morelos, Joe Aribo, Nikola Katic and Scott Arfield were all on the scoresheet with important away goals.

Defender Tavernier excelled at the back with his leadership, while going forward he proved what an attacking threat he can be.

The right-back laid on the perfect assist with a cross for an opening goal from Morelos, while he constantly pushed on down the flank to provide an option.

A selection of Rangers supporters on social media were impressed by Tavernier’s display and feel he was one of the standouts.

The 27-year-old is such a useful attacking weapon for Gerrard to have at his disposal and he already has four assists in European games this season.
