Rangers record an excellent 2-0 home victory against Porto on Thursday night – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were hailing defender Connor Goldson for his performance.
Steven Gerrard’s team recorded the win at Ibrox in the Europa League group stages and it leaves them in a decent position to try quality with two games remaining.
After a difficult first-half against Portuguese opponents Porto, the Gers came out much better in the second period and earned three points.
Alfredo Morelos scored in the 69th minute with a brilliant individual finish, as he controlled the ball with his weaker left foot and tapped it into the bottom corner.
The busy centre-forward then turned provider to assist Steven Davis just four minutes later, who saw his deflected effort from the edge of the box go in.
The Scottish giants sit second in a difficult Europa League group with seven points from four games and are mixing it with some top sides.
A selection of Rangers supporters on social media singled out Goldson for special praise for his efforts.
The 26-year-old had a fair amount of defending to do against a dangerous Porto side, but he was a rock at the back that was dominant in the air.
He is a ball-playing centre-back that is criticised at times at Ibrox, but he delivered a mature display in Europe and should take great confidence from it.
Here are some Rangers fans on Goldson:

Goldson takes quite a bit of criticism and at times it’s totally justified but credit where it’s totally due, he was outstanding tonight. Best he’s performed in a while. 👏

I’ve been a critic but I thought Goldson was immense tonight.

Sorry to disappoint 97% of @RangersFC twitter, but Connor Goldson was an absolute Colossus tonight. There is a reason why Stevie never drops him. Alfredo still the best in the world though. 🐃💙⚽️🇬🇧
