Rangers kept the pace with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership yesterday. Steven Gerrard’s side picked up a 3-0 win over Livingston. They are now second in the table, just two points behind their Old Firm rivals.

The win against Livi was far from straightforward. The away side proved tough to beat yet again. Daniel Candeias’s 20th-minute goal had Rangers off to a good start at Ibrox. But it was not until Alfredo Morelos came on that Rangers had the impetus to kill the game off. Goals from the Colombian and Scott Arfield gave Gerrard the three points he wanted.

One interesting team selection for the fixture was that of Kyle Lafferty up front.

Gerrard clearly felt he wanted to give Lafferty a chance to improve his match fitness and sharpness.

It was his first league start since the 1-0 defeat to Livingston in September and his 150th game for Rangers during his two stints at the club. The summer arrival from Hearts scored twice on his second Rangers debut v Motherwell but has struggled to find his best form since then.

His second spell at Rangers has so far been met with mixed reviews from the Ibrox faithful. Some feel he is not cut out to play for his beloved Rangers anymore and that the signature was more to do with nostalgia than talent.

It has left Rangers fans wishing for a new striker arrival in the winter, to help out the outstanding but combustible Morelos.

Here is how some Rangers fans reacted to Lafferty’s display at Ibrox yesterday…
