Rangers suffered a 3-1 defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at home on Thursday night in the Europa League as they failed to cope with Peter Bosz’s attacking talents – but many Gers fans were impressed with the performance of Glen Kamara.

Leverkusen already have one hand on a place in the last eight of the competition following the win, given they have scored three away goals and Rangers will need to find the back of the net at least three times in Germany next week.

Bosz’s men opened the scoring, as a cross inadvertently hit George Edmundson’s hand in the penalty area – and Kai Havertz duly obliged from the penalty spot. Charles Aranguiz made it two in the second 45, superbly finishing on the half volley.

George Edmundson has broken into the team of late and he scored his second goal for Rangers, heading home a James Tavernier corner. Borna Barisic came close with a free-kick, but Bayer made it three late on through substitute Leon Bailey.

Kamara, 24, has been in and out of the side recently, with the Finland international receiving criticism from fans and pundits alike. He was handed a start on Thursday night, though, and impressed in the middle of the park.

Rangers fans recognised this on Twitter and praised the former Arsenal and Dundee man for his efforts against a strong Leverkusen midfield of Aranguiz and Karim Demirbay.
