Rangers fans hail Ianis Hagi after performance against Coventry
Rangers beat Coventry City 2-0 on Saturday in a pre-season friendly – and some of the club’s supporters on Twitter were impressed by the contribution if Ianis Hagi.
Steven Gerrard’s side continued with another friendly fixture at the weekend and faced a Coventry side at Ibrox that have been promoted as League One champions in England’s third-tier.
After a fairly flat first-half, the Gers turned it up a notch in the second period and Joe Aribo opened the scoring after a one-two with teammate Alfredo Morelos.
Connor Goldson netted a second with his powerful header from a James Tavernier set-piece and there are plenty of positives to take from the latest runout.
A selection of Rangers supporters on social media singled out Hagi as someone that made a strong impression with his display at Ibrox against Coventry.
The Romanian attacking midfielder played 81 minutes before being substituted off and was one of the liveliest individuals on show.
He nearly scored an outrageous long-range effort from his own half and during the contest he showed a great attacking intent, as well as giving a glimpse into the trickery on the ball that makes him a fan favourite at the Scottish giants.
Here are some Gers fans discussing Hagi, with many predicting him to be a talisman in the new season:
I can see Hagi getting 20+ goals in all competitions this season.
He’s not shy of having a go at goal from anywhere near the box and finding space inside it.
Real goal threat from midfield.

Hagi picks up some cracking positions in and around the penalty area when balls come in from the left hand side, keeps that up he should hit double figures this season.
