Rangers fans hail Candeias’ performance in demolition job on Kilmarnock

After two successive 0-0 draws, Rangers needed to get back on track as quickly as possible when they hosted Kilmarnock at Ibrox last night and they did exactly that.

Steve Clarke’s side have been impressive this season and usually defend diligently but the Gers swept them aside with a resounding 5-0 victory to progress in the Scottish Cup.

Alfredo Morelos will grab the headlines for his four-goal haul – his contribution throughout the rest of the season will be vital if Rangers are to win anything this campaign.

But his supporting cast were also impressive, including Daniel Candeias, who laid on three of the goal for his countryman, returning to his best form.

His performances can be erratic at times but Candeias has the ability to influence matches and his understanding with Morelos appears unrivaled within the Rangers ranks.

Consistency is now the key for Rangers – too often this season, impressive statement results have been followed by slip-ups.

And if they want to make it a title race that is genuinely tense until the very end of the season, Candeias will need to put in more displays like this – especially if they help Morelos get on the scoresheet even more regularly…
