Some Rangers fans are fed up with James Tavernier’s poor defending

Rangers had a bad day at the office today, as they played out a 3-3 draw with Motherwell at Fir Park. Rangers looked like they were set to take all three points from the game, after fighting back to lead 3-2. Kyle Lafferty scored twice on debut and Ovie Ejaria also found the net as Rangers looked set to scramble a win.

But they conceded in the final minute of the game to drop two points.

Steven Gerrard’s side made silly mistakes throughout the game today and will head back to Glasgow disappointed.

Some players were more culpable than others.

Rangers fans know just what captain James Tavernier can provide. The right-back is a phenom going forward. Strong and fast he has an incredible delivery on his free-kick. Also deadly from set plays, Tavernier is one of Rangers’ more deadly threats.

However, Rangers fans are also fed up of his occasionally abject defending.  Tavernier switches off too often and lets his marker get away from him. The result, on two occasions today, was a goal for the opposition.

Rangers face Ufa in Russia on Thursday in a huge Europa League clash. Then they head to Celtic as Rangers boss Steven Gerrard looks to bring three points from Parkhead to Ibrox.
