Rangers fans credit Steven Davis for European display

Rangers managed a 1-1 draw away to Porto on Thursday night in the Europa League group stages – and some of the club’s fans were left raving about their midfielder Steven Davis for his contribution.

There were a number of standout performers for Steven Gerrard’s team, as they picked up a potentially vital away point in Europe on their trip to Portugal.

Gers striker Alfredo Morelos once again proved his importance by scoring an equaliser just before half-time, which came from a rapid counter attack and earned a deserved point.

The Scottish giants have three games left in their group to try reach the knockout rounds, but two are at Ibrox and they certainly look competitive in Europe against some top opponents this season.

Davis was a huge influence in the centre of the park for Rangers against Porto and his composure on the ball shone through.

The 34-year-old was efficient at the base of the midfield by spraying intelligent passes in possession and also protecting the defence.

He is an experienced central midfielder that is back at Ibrox on a full-time basis after pervious spells and is part of a core group trusted by manager Gerrard.
