Rangers fans celebrate that new Steven Gerrard deal is reportedly close
Steven Gerrard is reportedly on the verge of signing a new deal with Rangers – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter have gone wild with excitement about the speculation.
The Scottish Sun reports that Gerrard has “all-but agreed terms” over a new contract that will mean he’s set to stay until 2024.
It is understood that the Light Blues plan to announce the contract extension shortly and that discussions have taken place in recent weeks.
Gerrard failed to win silverware during his first season in charge at Ibrox last year, but managed to galvanise a squad together and win over plenty of fans.
His team are now just two points adrift of Celtic in the league table and look firmly in a title race, while they have it in their own destiny too to qualify from their Europa League group stage with one game left to play at home to Young Boys on Thursday.
The Gers have to deal with the Scottish League Cup final first this weekend, as they face off against rivals Celtic on Sunday at Hampden Park.

A selection of Rangers supporters on social media feel that Gerrard deserves a fresh deal at the club and believe he’s the right man to take them forward.
He’s certainly overseen the closing of the gap to Celtic, but it remains to be seen whether they can pip them to silverware this campaign.
