Rangers fans blown away by Borna Barisic display against Porto

Borna Barisic completed 90 minutes in the eye-catching draw against Porto – and some Rangers fans on Twitter hailed the defender for his performance.

Steven Gerrard’s team picked up a 1-1 away draw on a difficult trip to Portugal and gave a brilliant account of themselves against elite opposition on Thursday evening.

Porto did take the lead with a thunderbolt from range by Luis Diaz, but in-form Gers striker Alfredo Morelos responded in the 44th minute by firing his shot into the top corner with a composed finish.

The Gers equaliser was a slick counter attack and Barisic’s assist was truly stunning with a cross-field pass to find the feet of an unmarked Morelos.

Rangers now have four points from their opening three Europa League group stage fixtures and sit second in the table with three left to play.

They are involved in an extremely close group, but have the advantage of playing two of their next three at Ibrox.

A selection of Rangers supporters on social media singled out Barisic for special praise and feel he was outstanding against Porto.

Barisic played a crucial role in the equaliser for his team, while defensively he stood up to the test and was solid out wide.

The 26-year-old full-back has really stepped up his offensive game this campaign and appears to be thoroughly enjoying his second season at Ibrox, with six assists in 12 games across all competitions so far.

He is the first-choice left-back for Croatia’s national team and is increasingly becoming vital for Gerrard.
