Rangers came from behind twice to beat Standard Liege on Thursday night – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter applauded their experienced man Steven Davis for his performance in the centre of the park.

Steven Gerrard’s team beat Standard Liege 3-2 at Ibrox in dramatic fashion, as they sealed qualification to the Europa League last 32 with a game to spare.

The Scottish giants have one match remaining to try top the group, but in any result it highlights the real progress of the current side and it continues their remarkable run of form.

Connor Goldson and James Tavernier were both on the scoresheet in the first-half to leave the scoreline 2-2 at half-time, before Scott Arfield wrapped up three points in the second-half with a first-time finish into the bottom corner.

Rangers really came into their own in a much improved second period and were denied on several occasions by an inspired goalkeeper.

A selection of Gers supporters on social media singled out veteran central midfielder Davies for his contribution against Standard Liege.

The 35-year-old continues to be an important part of the side at Ibrox and he impressed in a deeper midfield position on Thursday night, as he was combative with his approach out of possession and also showed class on the ball.
