Rangers fans amazed by Alfredo Morelos in Royal Antwerp victory

Rangers booked their spot in the Europa League last 16 on Thursday evening – and some of the club’s fans on Twitter picked out striker Alfredo Morelos as a real star of the show.

Steven Gerrard’s side ensured their superb European run will keep going into March by beating Royal Antwerp 5-2 on the night at Ibrox.

The Scottish league leaders secured an 9-5 aggregate scoreline over Belgian opposition Antwerp in a memorable tie between the pair.

Morelos, Nathan Patterson, Ryan Kent, Borna Barisic and Cedric Itten were all on the scoresheet for Rangers, who managed to outscore their opponents and prove how far they’ve come as a team in the past couple of years.

The Light Blues are storming towards the league title, but their form in Europe has been equally as impressive and they’ve been superb at home.

A selection of Gers supporters on social media named Morelos as a key individual for them on the European stage.

The 24-year-old centre-forward was influential with the opening goal inside 10 minutes, plus he also assisted two more goals in the second half.

One fan named him as “unplayable” for the way he tormented the Antwerp defence.
