With Steven Gerrard looking for a new striker, two Rangers youngsters got on the score sheet this weekend.

According to recent reports, Gerrard could use the January transfer window to sign a new forward.

Alfredo Morelos leads the line for the Gers but Gerrard has been disappointed by the back-up strikers on Rangers’ books.

With a striker high on his priority list, could his answer be closer to home?

Two players scored for their loan clubs this weekend, surely prompting Gerrard to consider what they could offer.

Joe Dodoo has not enjoyed a particularly successful loan stint at Blackpool to date but he scored in their victory over Exeter City yesterday.

The 23-year-old had only scored once in nine games prior to this weekend’s fixture.

But he was influential against Exeter in this FA Cup tie. Dodoo rose highest to nod in the opener after just three minutes and produced an assist for Blackpool’s third goal.

Rangers manager Gerrard will be hoping the ex-Leicester striker can now kick on and find the net more regularly.

Zak Rudden was also on the score sheet this weekend. The 18-year-old scores his fourth goal in nine matches on loan at Falkirk.

In the Scottish Championship game against Dunfermline, Rudden scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win with a confident low finish.

Could either of these players convince Gerrard to recall them in January?
