Borna Barisic has been quoted by the Daily Record as saying that his future lies at Rangers after scoring a sensational winner to give Steven Gerrard’s side all three points against newly-promoted St. Mirren.
Barisic, 26, finally netted his first goal in Rangers colours with an exquisite free-kick from 25 yards out, curling a left-footed effort past St. Mirren goalkeeper Vaclav Hladky. Rangers held on to a 1-0 win to remain level with Celtic.
Croatia international Barisic has been linked with a move away from Rangers after a disappointing first campaign at Ibrox, following his move from NK Osijek. Indeed, he played just 22 times last season though injury disrupted his momentum.
This season, he has been forced to watch from the sidelines for much of the campaign, with Jon Flanagan being preferred. However, he scored the winner on Sunday and he gave an update on his future – with the deadline on September 2.
“I don’t know what people talk about but I only know I am fully focused on Rangers. I am a Rangers player and that is it.”

TBR’s view – Keeping Barisic should be a no-brainer for Rangers
Yes, the left-back is yet to show his true quality, but the fact that he is getting into the Croatia squad on a regular basis already suggests that the defender is capable of becoming Rangers’ first-choice left-back for years to come.
If he can develop some momentum and finally begin to show Rangers fans what he is capable of, supporters will finally see why Gerrard opted to bring him to Ibrox 12 months ago.
