Rangers supremo Mark Allen has lifted the lid on how the club managed to get the deal to sign Ryan Kent over the line eventually, as per TalkSport.
Allen has praised the relationship between Rangers and Liverpool – cultivated by the presence of Steven Gerrard in the Ibrox dugout – for sealing the deal.
He said: “We made our intention very clear at the start of the window; Ryan was a key target. Liverpool have been fantastic in what they’ve done and helped us trying to get this over the line. A lot of credit needs to go to Liverpool.
“Ryan enjoyed his time at Rangers and he was obviously keen to come back, but the respect between the two clubs helped us get him.”

TBR’s View – Gerrard’s influence in greater view than ever before in getting Kent to sign permanently
One of the ways in which Steven Gerrard lifted Rangers before a ball was even kicked after his appointment was in the calibre of player he would be able to attract.
He was always going to raid Liverpool for loanees – players that Rangers would likely not have had access to ordinarily – and Kent was the most successful.
But it’s another thing to get a permanent deal over the line and although Allen didn’t name Gerrard, it’s clear that the strong relationship between the clubs has been cultivated by the former Reds captain.
