Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has risked the wrath of the supporters who used to worship him. The ex-midfielder has told the PLZ Soccer Show on YouTube his three-man shortlist for the Scottish Player of the Year and included two Celtic players.
Ferguson has plumped for Rangers talisman Alfredo Morelos, alongside Hoops duo Callum McGregor and James Forrest.
The man who played 240 games for the Ibrox-based club has saved face a little bit by backing Morelos to eventually with the award.
He told the PLZ Soccer Show on YouTube: “I know he has had his problems this season with his discipline, but for me, he will win it.”

He was asked to confirm his thought process behind the Celtic duo, especially given his affection for Rangers.
Ferguson continued: “Callum McGregor is an outstanding midfielder. He can play the holding role, he can play number ten or he can play the left side. He can even fill in at left-back. For me, it’s between those two.
“I rate Forrest very highly. He’s coming onto an outstanding bit of form just now.”
TBR Verdict
Given the pure hatred between the Old Firm rivals, it won’t delight the Rangers fans that he has omitted Ryan Kent from his shortlist.

The on-loan Liverpool winger has been in stunning form for the Gers and it would have been somewhat tongue in cheek had he picked two, or even three, Rangers players for his shortlist.
He has definitely risked upsetting some of the Light Blues support by naming two-thirds of the three from Celtic.
In backing Morelos to actually claim the award he might earn a bit of reprieve among the Rangers faithful.
