Rangers might have just suffered a blow in their bid to lure Xavi Simons to Ibrox, after French newspaper Le Parisien claims that Paris Saint-Germain have offered the Dutch wonderkid a new contract.
Simons, 18, is regarded as one of PSG’s best young talents. He has already played twice for Mauricio Pochettino’s senior side. However, Simons has failed to build on that this term, making the senior squad twice.
Instead, he has been playing for the youth side – notably in the UEFA Youth League. In six games, he has had a hand in nine goals from midfield – netting three times themselves, and laying on six assists.
Little surprise, then, that van Bronckhorst wants to lure Simons to Rangers. It would be quite the coup, but TeamTalk say van Bronckhorst hopes his ties to Dutch football could push a deal over the line for Simons.

Manchester City are also said to be interested. Now, Le Parisien report that PSG have offered Simons a new deal with Mino Raiola talking to the French giants over his client’s future. It remains to be seen if he wants to stay.
PSG offer Simons new deal: Rangers have got to open talks soon
If Rangers are to stand any chance of convincing Simons into a move to Ibrox, then they have to open talks with Raiola as soon as possible. Even if, PSG do not offer first-team assurances, they are still PSG.
They have the financial clout, facilities and big-name players to tempt Simons. Rangers would give Simons first-team game time and European football. A no-brainer on a free, and talks must begin soon.
