Rangers are now two competitive games into their season and have progressed past minnows St Joseph’s FC 10-0 on aggregate after a Europa League qualifying campaign.
With pre-season games taking place too, manager Steven Gerrard is now beginning to get a really good look at his squad.
The Light Blues have backed manager Gerrard once again this summer with more signings and midfielder Joe Aribo is one that is catching the eye.
Aribo completed 90 minutes on Thursday night in a 6-0 home victory against St Joseph’s FC and looked the part at Ibrox.
The central midfielder scored after just three minutes and found space in the box well, before his low driven finish into the net.
He’s looking like a potential jackpot for the Scottish giants, as he cost just £300,000 (Scottish Sun) because of cross-border transfer rules that became active when his contract with Charlton Athletic expires this summer.
Aribo loves to drive forward into attack from midfield and there is every chance he can produce a decent goal return for Rangers.
The 22-year-old has an excellent first touch, picks up space in little pockets on the pitch, and has an eye for goal.
He helped Charlton achieve promotion from League One last season, scoring 10 goals and supplying five assists in 39 games across all competitions.
Rangers have picked up a rising talent that looked ready to grace the Championship, but instead he could become a real hit in Scotland.
It’s of course the early stages of the campaign, but supporters should be pleased with their summer recruit and be excited to see his development.
