Rangers are considering an ambitious swoop on Watford to take Andre Gray on loan this summer, according to a report in The Herald.
Boss Steven Gerrard is preparing to receive bids for 29-goal talisman Alfredo Morelos when the window reopens. Any potential departure for the Colombian would leave a big void in the final third for the boss to fill.
The Light Blues boss has already secured deals for Jordan Jones and Jake Hastie and is now on the lookout for more attack-minded reinforcements.
Gray signed for Watford for a club record £18.5 million back in 2017, according to BBC Sport. This season the livewire striker has helped himself to nine goals and three assists, helping the Hornets to the FA Cup Final in the process.
If the 27-year-old does become available for transfer or loan this summer it is likely that Rangers will face competition for his services.
Gray would be a stunning piece of business for a team in the Scottish Premiership.
This season he has featured pretty frequently in Javi Gracia’s team, scoring some mightily important goals along the way.
It is unsure at this stage whether the player would fancy a move to Rangers but it is reasonable to suggest he would score bags of goals at that level.
The ex-Burnley man has hit seven goals in the Premier League this season and he definitely knows where the back of the net is.
Gray would be a real coup for Rangers and his presence in Gerrard’s team could transform them into genuine title contenders once more.
