A player linked with Glasgow Rangers and Celtic has spoken out on his future after becoming a free agent, and it’s promising news for both Ibrox and Parkhead camps.
Vaclav Hladky was heavily linked with Steven Gerrard’s Rangers during the January transfer window (Scottish Sun) and again last month, while Neil Lennon’s Celtic are also thought to be admirers, according to the Sunday Post.
The Czech stopper was in brilliant form for St Mirren this season, making 38 appearances and keeping 10 clean sheets in the Scottish Premiership and 14 in all competitions.

However, he has now left the Buddies after his contract expired, and on Friday he spoke about his future plans, in conversation with the Scottish Sun.
“I want to stay at a club in Britain,” Hladky said. “My wife and I have stayed in Scotland since the (global health crisis).
“My St Mirren contract is ending and my agents are working to get me a new club. I’m hoping that will be fixed up as soon as possible and we talk on a daily basis.
“From the day I arrived at St Mirren, I have been extremely satisfied with life here. The club is next to Glasgow and we live in the city. It is a very pleasant place to live.
“I like the friendly lifestyle of the local people and I can’t praise it enough here. It was a great experience for me to shake hands with Steven Gerrard and the praise I get motivates me.
“I don’t want to speculate about Rangers being my next team. My transfer is being worked out at the moment – it could be to a club in Scotland or the English Championship.”
TBR View:
As luck would have it, a top-class goalkeeper has become available for nothing just as Rangers and Celtic are both in pursuit of a new stopper.
Gerrard is two goalkeepers short after Wes Foderingham and Jak Alnwick saw their contracts expire, while Lennon only has one senior goalkeeper still on the books – Scott Bain.
Speaking about Hladky, Alex Rae told the Scottish Sun in March: “For me he’s at least 10 points of a difference because he is one of the stand-out goalkeepers in the division.”
With Hladky admitting he loves living in Glasgow and the city’s two big clubs on the lookout for a new keeper, it would be surprising to see him up sticks and head south of the border.
