Reported Glasgow Rangers and Celtic target Lyndon Dykes has officially made a decision on his future – and unfortunately for Steven Gerrard and Neil Lennon, it’s neither at Ibrox nor Parkhead.
According to a Daily Mail report from June, Rangers and Celtic, plus a number of English Championship outfits, had been showing interest in the Livingston striker.
Dykes enjoyed a superb breakout season in 2019-20, turning in a number of impressive displays for the Doonhammers and claiming 12 goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

Speculation linking Dykes with Rangers increased in June after the striker unveiled a blue haircut on social media, though now-former colleague Marvin Bartley played down the speculation.
“I read about it being a ‘come and get me plea’ to Rangers but he’s just bored, like the rest of us, and is too much of a live-wire for his own good,” he was quoted by the Daily Record as saying.
Now, the 24-year-old has decided to head south of the border and, on Wednesday, English second-tier side Queens Park Rangers announced his arrival.
Dykes, born in Australia but also eligible for the Scotland national team, has penned a four-year deal in London for a fee reported by Sky Sports as being around £2million.
QPR boss Mark Warburton – formerly of Rangers – told his club’s official website: “I am delighted, delighted!
“He is a player who can score goals and he showed his quality against Rangers and Celtic last season.
“He is a hard worker, a good finisher and I think he is going to go on to become a good international for Scotland.”
The striker was left out of Gary Holt’s side on Sunday as Livi held Rangers to a 0-0 draw at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
TBR View:
Dykes, a tall target man with raw power, aggression, a superb engine and a proven goalscoring record in Scotland, would’ve definitely been a good option for either club.
Some Rangers-leaning pundits certainly wanted him at Ibrox, such as Billy Dodds, who told the Scottish Sun he’d be “the perfect buy for Rangers and the type of player that Gerrard is going to need if he is to stop Celtic”.
Ally McCoist, meanwhile, told Herald Scotland: “I think the big fella gives you something different. He’s strong, he’s aggressive, he’s quick and he’s scored goals against both Rangers and Celtic.”
That said, with Rangers snapping up Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, whilst Celtic have brought in Albian Ajeti, the two sides may just have opted to overlook him – hopefully they won’t rue missing out on him.
