Rangers and Celtic boost as Manchester United reportedly make Aliou Traore decision

It was reported by France Football back in June that Rangers and Celtic were amongst the clubs keen on signing Aliou Traore this summer.

Traore impressed for Manchester United’s under-23s this past season, scoring four goals in 14 appearances.

France Football suggested that the Gers and the Hoops both want the 19-year-old. And it appears that they have now received a big boost to their hopes.

The Daily Mail has reported that Manchester United are open to selling the teenager this summer.

The Mail claims that the former Paris Saint-Germain man will be available for £1 million, while the Reds want a sell-on clause inserted into a potential deal.

It remains to be seen if Rangers or Celtic plan to follow up on their interest. Steven Gerrard or Neil Lennon may be forgiven for wondering if a potential move could be deemed a gamble.

He is yet to make his senior debut at Old Trafford. And the Mail notes that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men believe that they will not rue letting Traore leave.

France Football also suggested that Benfica want the midfielder. Meanwhile, French second division side Caen are interested and have made an enquiry, according to the Mail.

Both Rangers and Celtic have brought in young players from Premier League clubs in recent years. And it appears that an opportunity is there should either want to follow up on their reported interest in Traore.
