A number of Rangers fans were amongst those taking to social media to comment on Jamie Murphy after the Gers-owned winger bagged a brace on Tuesday night.

Murphy has been an inspired signing for Burton Albion. He went into their latest clash having scored five goals in nine league appearances for the Brewers.

And the 30-year-old perhaps provided another reminder of what Rangers are missing. He scored twice to help Nigel Clough’s men draw 2-2 with Bolton.

His first goal will certainly go down as one of the easiest goals the wide-man will score during his career. He nodded the ball home from a yard out after reacting quickest after a corner was knocked down.

But his second was a brilliant finish. Murphy received the ball when a cross was cut back, and he guided it into the side of the net with his first touch to bring Burton back level after they had gone 2-1 behind.

Admittedly, there are some Rangers fans who are not getting too carried away by Murphy’s form. He is playing in League One having barely featured for Steven Gerrard’s men this term.

‘Should be playing for Rangers’

However, there are plenty who believe that his Ibrox career has been handed a lifeline during his time away.

Meanwhile, some of the Burton fans have suggested that they feel incredibly lucky to have a player like Murphy on their books during the second-half of the season.
