Ramon Vega says one Tottenham player is 'growing on him immensely'
Ramon Vega was impressed with the performance of Oliver Skipp as Tottenham ruined Newcastle’s party yesterday.
Goals from Harry Kane, Tanguy Ndombele and Son Heung-min ensured a big three points for Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.
Tottenham were largely impressive and goals from Callum Wilson and an Eric Dier own goal couldn’t dampen their day.
Vega was watching the game from afar and he reserved praise for Tottenham’s young midfielder.
The 21-year-old has started six of the eight Premier League games played so far and is growing as a player.
He is quite clearly relishing the chance to play regular football and last season’s loan at Norwich looks to have worked wonders.
Skipp is actually pretty experienced for a young player. He has 34 appearances to his name for Tottenham and played 47 times for the Canaries last season.
Against Newcastle, the Tottenham academy graduate was superb. He showcased an unbelievable passing radar and also read the game brilliantly well.
The future looks really bright for the midfielder. He appears to have the backing of his manager Nuno Espirito Santo and he’ll hope to continue playing.
Skipp was linked with another loan move in the summer, but the club’s decision to keep him looks like a positive one.
What has Vega said about Tottenham star Skipp?
After watching yesterday’s contest, the former Spurs defender spoke of his delight with Skipp’s performance.
His comment perhaps suggests that he previously held a different opinion on the midfielder.
Now, he’s totally sold on him though and it would appear that the ex-Switzerland star rates Skipp highly.
The challenge for the Tottenham man has to be gaining consistency. If he does that, first-team football won’t prove hard to come by.
Spurs do have a plethora of midfield talent but Skipp is right towards the top of the list for a shirt at the moment.
