Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl remained as tight-lipped as possible regarding the future of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg last night, amid increasing reports of interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
However, the Austrian did make it clear, as reported by Hampshire Live, that a ‘solution’ would need to be found regarding the Danish international’s future.
“I cannot confirm anything because I don’t want to comment on speculation or rumours.
“He’s our player and under contract, and we’ll see what happens in the summer.
“We’re hopeful of finding a solution that’s for the best.”
Tottenham and Everton have been increasingly linked with a move for Hojbjerg, whose contract expires at the end of next season.
The midfielder has made it clear to Southampton that he has no desire to sign a new deal and has therefore been stripped of his captaincy and appears set to leave this summer.

Reports over the past couple of days have highlighted increased activity regarding a potential move for the 24-year-old.
The BBC reported last night that Everton have begun discussions with Southampton regarding a potential £14 million move for the player. The Telegraph says much the same, but puts the figure at £18 million. Meanwhile, Sky Sports claim that Tottenham are willing to include Kyle Walker-Peters in any deal for the Dane, who is said to be valued at £25 million. They also suggest that Hojbjerg would prefer a move to Tottenham.
So it appears the transfer picture is hotting up for the in-demand midfielder and with the Premier League season fast approaching its finale, a deal for Hojbjerg is likely to be concluded sooner rather than later.
