If Southampton survive this season, Ralph Hasenhuttl needs to use the next summer transfer window to fine tune his squad.
Hasenhuttl suffered frustration in the January transfer window, letting several first-team players leave without bringing in any replacements.
More will follow the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini and Wesley Hoedt out of the exit door in the summer if Southampton stay up.
But this time, the Austrian needs to get the players he wants, including a new striker to compete with Danny Ings.
According to Italian media source Calcio Mercato, Southampton are interested in signing Kasper Dolberg from Ajax.
Although the Saints would face widespread competition for the 21-year-old, this would be a marquee signing that could deliver a top-half finish in 2019/20.
Dolberg has the perfect blend of youth and experience, having scored 42 goals in 103 senior appearances for Ajax in his career.
This is a stunning strike rate for someone so young and it is only a matter of time before he makes the step up to a top team.
But Southampton should go all out to bring in the Denmark international, who would complement Ings perfectly.
With the pace and relentless running of Ings, combined with the aerial presence and physicality of Dolberg, would cause Premier League defences a lot of problems.
Dolberg also possesses a turn of pace himself, making him the complete striker for the Saints in their quest to move up the league table.
