Southampton midfielders Nathan Redmond and James Ward-Prowse have both received England call-ups ahead of the summer.
Gareth Southgate announced his England squad for the UEFA Nations League campaign in early June. The Three Lions will be competing for silverware this summer.
And Southampton pair Redmond and Ward-Prowse can play a part in that. Ward-Prowse was drafted into the last squad after injuries but gets an unconditional call-up this time.
Meanwhile, Redmond is back in the England squad for the first time in over two years. It is a major achievement for two players who were drifting into obscurity earlier this season.
Under Mark Hughes, Southampton were in trouble. And Redmond and Ward-Prowse were struggling to get a game for the Saints.
But Ralph Hasenhuttl came in and changed everything. The Austrian has transformed Redmond and Ward-Prowse into top-performing Premier League midfielders.
The extent of his job can be measured by today’s announcement. After Redmond and Ward-Prowse received England call-ups, Hasenhuttl can be proud of his work.
Here are several tweets from Southampton fans congratulating Redmond and Ward-Prowse for making the England squad.
Couldn’t think of two more deserving players and men. Go make us proud 😇
