Manchester City cruised to victory against Leicester City in the end, winning 6-3 at The Etihad to make it a boxing day to remember for Pep Guardiola.

City stormed into a four goal lead at half-time but were pegged back by Leicester in the second 45. It was 4-3 before Aymeric Laporte scored. Finally, Raheem Sterling put the game to bed with minutes to spare. However, despite it appearing a hammering on paper, goal scorer Sterling has revealed why City are still disappointed.

Speaking to the BBC following the game, Sterling revealed City has failed to heed a warning from Pep Guardiola at the break, and nearly paid the price.

“The manager warned us at half-time. Leicester conceded four in the first half but every time they attacked, they created chances,” Sterling said.

“It’s disappointing. We just had to control the game. It was slick football. At 4-0 up you have to kill the game. Leicester have some really good players. They didn’t get disheartened and kept going. Credit to them.”

Nevertheless, City still have scored 17 in just three games now. And this is without a striker, and without key England midfielders Phil Foden and Jack Grealish.

TBR’s View: Guardiola Wants Manchester City Perfection

It just goes to show what Guardiola demands of this Manchester City team. They score six against one of the Premier League’s better sides and he is still not 100% happy.

To Sterling’s credit, he seems to agree with his manager. But at the end of the day, if you keep scoring nearly six a game, you won’t lose many points.

City keep marching on, and they look like they’re going to take some stopping.
