Rafael van der Vaart has been quoted by Dutch outlet Voetbal Primeur as saying that he has sent a text to Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy, urging the Spurs supremo to sign Ajax playmaker Hakim Ziyech.
Ziyech, 26, is regarded as one of the best players outside Europe’s biggest leagues yet to make a big-money move. He was already highly rated, but improved his reputation further when Ajax reached the Champions League semi-final.
This season, he has continued his stunning form, netting six times and laying on nine assists in 18 games. He has an incredible ratio for Ajax, scoring a goal nearly every three games with 46 in 148 games. He has created a huge 70 assists.
Former Spurs star van der Vaart has claimed he sent a text to Levy, urging Tottenham to sign Ziyech. Spanish newspaper AS reported last month that his £26million release clause had been removed, but Ajax will accept bids of £44million.
“I really hope he goes to Tottenham Hotspur and I think so,” van der Vaart was quoted as saying by Voetbal Primeur. “I sent a message today [Sunday] to Levy. I said, get Ziyech after this season. I am convinced he will become a sensation in London.”

TBR’s view – Ziyech would be the perfect Eriksen replacement
Ajax star Ziyech is arguably one of the best attacking midfielders in European football and with Christian Eriksen set to leave Spurs at the end of the season, Tottenham need a new number 10.
At just £44million, Morocco international Ziyech is a bargain – especially given he has proven himself at the highest level in the Champions League. He scored a stunning effort just last month in the competition against Valencia in a 3-0 Ajax win.
Levy must listen to van der Vaart and sign sign Ziyech, but the competition is likely to be enormous.
