Rafael Leao just did something against Arsenal that could make Mikel Arteta call Andrea Berta immediately

In Arsenal’s 1-0 win over AC Milan, Gunners fans were treated to a glimpse of Portuguese forward Rafael Leao.

Alongside some seriously impressive displays from the likes of Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman, Arsenal fans might have also had one eye on Rafael Leao’s display.

TBR Football recently shared that Arsenal are still interested in Leao, a player the north London club have often been linked with over the years.

And despite all of the impressive business sporting director Andrea Berta has already overseen this summer, Arsenal are still in the market for a left winger.

Rodrygo is Arsenal’s preferred option as things stand, but after seeing Leao up close against his side, Mikel Arteta might suddenly feel the need to have a conversation with Berta.

Mikel Arteta might want to sign AC Milan’s Rafael Leao after his display vs Arsenal

In his 79 minutes against Arsenal, Leao did float in and out of the game whilst playing in a number nine role.

But at times the Portugal international looked like too much for Arsenal’s defenders to handle.

Leao usually plays on the left wing for Milan, the role he would presumably play under Arteta were he ever to make a switch to the Emirates.

But the 26-year-old also perfectly demonstrated his ability to lead the line centrally — meaning he could be a serious asset for Arsenal.

And although Arsenal are considering a move for Eberechi Eze in addition to Rodrygo, perhaps Leao would still be the most game-changing signing for the Gunners.

Of course, there were reports that Berta has already spoken to Leao’s camp this summer, again suggesting that a move for the Portuguese winger might not be entirely unfeasible.

Kai Havertz proved his own worth ahead of Viktor Gyokeres joining Arsenal

Another sub-plot of Arsenal’s 1-0 win over Milan was Kai Havertz’s performance up top.

Given that Viktor Gyokeres is close to joining Arsenal, that might be Havertz’s final display as a number nine for the Gunners without the Swede around.

One would assume that Gyokeres is coming in to be Arsenal’s starting striker next season, even if Havertz will still get opportunities.

And on evidence of Havertz’s display, he’s going to put up a good fight for his spot.

Havertz’s movement was clever up top, he was getting into all kinds of dangerous areas linking the play.

However, perhaps the German also proved why Arsenal want Gyokeres in the same breath — Havertz wasn’t often in the penalty box, or even thereabouts.

But it’s clearly going to be a very healthy situation for Arteta, who will have two strikers with very different skill-sets.
