Rafa Mir form shows he might have a future at Wolves

Whilst Wolverhampton Wanderers have brought in plenty of players who were first-team ready since their takeover by the Fosun group they have also made sure they bring in top young talents with the hope of developing into future stars.

One such player was Rafa Mir. The young Spaniard joined up with his former Valencia manager Nuno Espirito Santo at Molineux. As reported by The Sun, Wolves paid just £1.5 million for his services – beating Real Madrid to the deal. However, with Wolves looking settled, he struggled to make a name for himself in the Midlands.

Despite scoring 15 goals in 19 games for Valencia B, he managed no goals in the four games he played for the Wolves first-team in his debut season at the club.

He later had a fairly impressive loan spell at Las Palmas however, a stint with Nottingham Forest last season was something of a dud.

In January, Mir was loaned back to Spain, where he joined up with Huesca and he is now starting to showcase, yet again, why Wolves decided to bring him in.

Mir scored this weekend in a 1-1 draw against Eibar in La Liga, to take his tally to three in nine so far this season. That followed his firm last season, where he scored nine goals in 18 games to help Huesca win promotion to the Spanish top-flight.

That takes his record to 12 goals in 27 games for his current loan club.

At the end of this loan spell, Mir will be into the final year of his Wolves contract and will need to then establish himself as a Wolves first-team option. Based on his current form, that might actually happen.
