Rafa Benitez has confirmed his move to Chinese Super League side Dalian Yifang on Twitter, just days after it was confirmed he would be leaving Newcastle United.
Benitez, 59, was confirmed as having left Newcastle last week, before his contract officially expired on July 1. The Spanish boss said in a statement that he wanted a longer contract, while Mike Ashley only offered an extension.
The former Real Madrid, Liverpool and Chelsea manager has been linked with moves to China, France and Italy but chose to remain at St. James’ Park until his future had been decided.
Now, Benitez has confirmed he has joined Dalian Yifang, with a post on his Twitter account – captioning the upload with “new chapter”. Yifang boast stars including Yannick Carrasco and Marek Hamsik, his ex-Napoli midfielder.

The Sun claimed earlier this week that Benitez would be earning an enormous £12million a year, or around £230,000 a week with the club. He replaces former South Korea manager Choi Kang Hee.
Newcastle fans reacted to the news that Benitez has already accepted a new job offer which sees him move out of Europe for the first time in his long-winded career. The majority are gutted to see him with another club.
